Nguni Art

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

CAL 256_010.JPG

Ah. The mighty Nguni. Favoured by Zulu, Xhosa and Interior designers everywhere.

I spent some time recently climbing onto the bandwagon, and creating these images of an animal that is known for its fertility and resistance to disease. (Good combo that.) If you are interested in purchasing a slightly different print of Africas most famous cattle species, drop me a mail. (Check out the new Nguni Ngallery on the left.)

And then on a totally different note - this is one of the coolest things I have ever seen done. Making it cooler is I know this crazy lady, and she really is as bubbly and funky as she comes across in this video…

Ok, its time to go and enjoy the beautiful South African weather outside.

The Drak and Other Bits and Pieces…

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

I don’t think anyone wants to hear about my “telephone tale of woe”. Let me just say it was long and sad, and I think I feel the beginnings of some grey hair. It is the reason that I lost my broadband and why there have been 2 months since I last posted.

In my time away I have been Kayaking down the Umzimkulu river in the Drakensberg, doing a few shoots, attending smashing weddings and always trying to figure out where all the money goes.

Here are some pics of my tangles with the river in the mountains…

This post is a bit all over the place, but I am so excited to have my little soapbox back that I just want to say it all!

Check out this short film, by world reknowned photographer Vincent Laforet:

Have a look at some of his pics while you are at it. He does have some skill…

And lastly:

A few of my photographs that I dug up from the guts of my very organic archiving system.

Have a great week.
