This has been a great month for our businesses. (Dances round desk while whooping airpunching.)

Emily has been filling up the Peppermintpix wedding shooting calendar for the year, being sure to schedule in some time to have a baby, and perhaps learn how to look after it. I have been phoning modeling agencies to find out how to get my “laaightie to be” onto a waiting list for fresh (and I mean fresh) talent, and trying to dream up other ways for the soon to be newest member of our family to earn its keep We have felt a little famous with two magazine articles being published about us in one month, but have managed to nonchalantly shrug as if that was just “how we rolled”, when people asked about it.

A few challenging corporate shoots have had me traveling around the country with a fat grin on my face, and Double A Images is still getting a shoot a month done in Joburg. And at the end of every shoot it is wonderful to return to a lovely cool airconditioned studio in Ballito.

And not only is it a peaceful place to retreat from the holiday town heat, where incense burns slowly and classical music calms the spirit, it is also seeing some use as.. well.. a studio!

Below are some of the portrait images of my beautiful pregnant wife and some of the Ballito locals we have shot over the last few weeks at the Peppermintpix studio. (For the people of the North Coast… it is located behind Lifestyle Centre in a new centre called “The Quarter”)

Happy New Year everyone.

So 2011 was a cracker.

Here comes 2012.

In some ways I still feel as daunted by what lies ahead as a small child beholding his “Big School” from roadside curb outside for the first time. Armed only with a new school uniform (scratchy and over starched), and a lunch box (with brown sarmies bread wrapped in wax paper, and liquifruit), I feel horribly underequipped to take on the monster in front of me.

But as they say, “Every Journey…etc”

Upon inspection however, this year it appears that I have a little more than a tuppaware lunchbox packed in my schoolbag.

I am big now. I have an office. And a studio. In that studio are gizmos and gadgets that will help with vanquishing 2012! A safe place, with airconditioning, from which to launch sorties into the new year! So bring it on I say! I am ready!

Check out the pics of the development of the new Peppermintpix Studio, from grubby building site to the launch of the centre in Ballito called the Quarter. I also threw in a pic of an article in the local “The Ballito Magazine” about the Peppermintpix team and their tale.
