Skating the Mamba

There is something very cool happening in the skating world and the origin of all the excitement is right here in Salt Rock.

This is what happened over the weekend:https://www.facebook.com/events/342895352588225/

and this is their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mambaskate

and some more info about the park:http://www.longboardism.com/2015/03/mamba-skate-park-south-africa-alternative-type-downhill-skateboarding.html

My skills on a skateboard are a par with the my skills on a surfboard, (nonexistent) but my enthusiasm for this type of thing is uparalleled in the cappucino and craft beer sipping dads of toddlers circles.

But I have a skateboard (to my wife’s amusement), and even some cash money to rent all the necessary pads and protections that might actually see me attempt the Mamba some day. And don’t forget that a roastie collected at one of the most exciting locations of skateboarding in SA is probably worth a few months worth of war stories and a heap of respect from the aforementioned social circles.

Check out some of the pics I snapped while sipping a Robson’s craft beer and listening to the cool beats from the Red Bull sound experience vehicle dudes under some north coast trees on Saturday.
